3 steps to beach body confidence

by | 30 July, 2019

As July rolls into August, there’ll be many a curvaceous lady dreading the ‘big reveal’ – the moment they don their bikinis and head to the sandy shores.

But for us, the term ‘bikini body’ isn’t limited to the minority of women who are size 12 and under. For us, a ‘bikini body’ is any body; whatever size, shape and skin colour it comes in.

Because, guess what? Beauty shines out from within, and if you have the confidence to strut your stuff, however much your bottom wobbles, then you may as well call yourself Beyoncé and be done with it.

Because, guess what? Beauty shines out from within, and if you have the confidence to strut your stuff, however much your bottom wobbles, then you may as well call yourself Beyoncé and be done with it.

We realise, of course, that for many it’s just not that easy. So we thought we’d put together 3 steps for feeling beautiful on the beach.

Don’t think ‘I need to cover up’…

Instead of thinking you need to cover up your curves, think about spending some proper time looking for a bikini or swimsuit that you actually want to wear. This may sound obvious, but for many women the idea of revealing all at the beach actually stuns them into panic buying a costume. The result? An ill-fitting torture device that you scowl at every time you clap eyes on it. By choosing the right costume that suits your physique and your style, you’ll be far more inclined to not see it as the enemy.

Break Yourself in…

If you have the luxury of outside space, whether that’s a balcony, patio or garden, then my advice is spend a few hours in your new swimsuit within the comforts of your own home, before you brave the beach. And if you’re gardenless, why not pop your swimsuit on whilst you do the hoovering?! Sounds mad, but believe me – the more you expose yourself to your ‘fear’, the easier it will be to conquer.

Do Not Compare…

We’re all guilty of casting our eyes over the sea of beach bodies in a self-destructing bid to compare ourselves. But as tempting as that may be, DON’T. Yes, you may see people similar to you, you may see people bigger than you, but you’re still going to be left feeling insecure. If you really want to boost your self-esteem, you need to fake it until you make it: act confident until you finally feel confident. As soon as you relax and actually enjoy yourself, you won’t care two hoots about your wobbly bits.

So, ladies, next time you head to the beach, be proud of those beautiful curves and give yourself the gift of body confidence. You absolutely deserve it!
