It’s high time the catwalk got curvy…

When you’re an excited bride-to-be, there’s nothing better than whiling away the hours at a wedding fair. With your mother and bridesmaids in tow, it’s a perfect opportunity to fine-tune your big day with some truly imaginative ideas.

And of course, if you’re still on the hunt for a dress, then there’s a huge variety of wedding dress designers at your fingertips, without having to trawl the high street.

But there’s only so much you can glean from a dress when it’s hung lifeless on a rail, and for this reason the highlight of any bridal show has to be the catwalk show. This is the bride-to-be’s chance to see how a dress looks and moves in real life, and an opportunity to imagine yourself walking down the aisle…

But, alas, it seems the curvy bride-to-be is left out of this particular bridal show extravaganza. Why? Because the models are selected to showcase the smaller sized wedding dresses, leaving plus size designers – and brides – seething on the sidelines. Unfair? We think so!

Unfortunately, this imbalance is epidemic in the wedding dress industry. We’ve been to many a bridal show only to have our dresses turned away from the runway. But this isn’t about our noses being put out of joint – this is about our curvaceous customers once again being dealt the short straw and left to feel ugly and unimportant.

It’s this kind of discrimination that spurred us to launch Brides With Curves, and why we’ll continue to fly the flag for the fuller-figured lady. We want wedding fair catwalks to showcase big and beautiful dresses, and we won’t stop until curves on the catwalk becomes the norm.

So, for all you curvy brides-to-be, we’ve got your back!
