by | 19 February, 2019

With Valentine’s Day under our belts and this year’s summer brides well and truly in organisation mode, we thought we’d give our brides-to-be some unique honeymoon destination ideas.

Forget white sandy beaches – we’re rooting for more adventurous getaways that you’ll never forget. Here are our top five picks…

Road trip around Scotland

Yep, you heard us correctly – Scotland. Arguably one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, this mountainous wonderland is the perfect place to feel a million miles away.

Hire a seriously big motorhome and meander through the mountains and glens, stopping off to admire the vast lochs and rugged villages. The lowlands and highlands are peppered with some truly spellbinding sights, so plan your route and take in as much of this magnificent country as possible.

Vancouver Island, Canada

Vancouver Island

For those of you who want to venture further, Vancouver Island is the adventurer’s paradise.

Situated just off the coast of Canada, this enchanting island has it all – bustling cities, majestic mountains, enchanting rainforests, serene beaches and pristine lakes. And of course, it’s the perfect spot for whale watching. You can’t get better than that.

If you can wangle a good three weeks off work, you might want to consider a hop-skip-and-a-jump to Australia’s most quirky island, Tasmania.

Located off Australia’s south coast, this is the eco-warrior’s ultimate holiday destination; dubbed the ‘Wild Island State’, Tasmania’s protected areas cover about 42% of its land area, making its mountains, beaches and wildernesses truly unspoiled. Add to that the beautiful architecture of the island’s capital city, Hobart, not to mention its famously fresh produce and exquisite coffee houses, and you’re laughing.

Forget Goa, we think India’s southern state, Kerala, is the jewel in the crown. This luscious coastal strip leaves the crowded streets of Bombay and tourist traps of Goa behind – think quiet beaches, thriving rainforests, meandering backwaters and tea plantations that stretch as far as the eye can see.

The British pound goes a long way in India, so book yourselves a five-star seaside hotel and squeeze in a few nights on a traditional Keralan houseboat. Perfect.

Train from Vancouver to Montreal

We’re back in Canada again! For a honeymoon to beat all honeymoons, why not experience the incredible train journey from Vancouver to Montreal?

Glide through the entire breath of this magnificent country and feast your eyes on the stunning Rocky Mountains, dense woodland, tranquil lakes and nostalgic prairies until you reach Canada’s French quarter, Montreal. This is travelling at its finest!

So there you have it: five not-so-obvious suggestions for your honeymoon getaway. Whatever you end up doing, leave your stress and worries at home and allow yourself to truly escape.

You deserve it.
