Your wedding dress timeline

by | 11 July, 2019

A few of our lovely brides-to-be have come to us a bit worried recently. Why? Because they think they’ve left it too late to find their perfect dress…

It doesn’t help, of course, that previous wedding dress shops had turned them away, refusing to sell them samples or even consider going the extra mile to help ease their anxiety.

Now, when a bride in need comes to me, I’ll pull out all the stops to make sure she’s okay. And that includes selling her a sample dress if she’s got her eye on it.

But, for the purposes of avoiding all that worry in the first place, I thought I would create a little wedding dress timeline, giving all you gorgeous ladies a bird’s eye view of what the process looks like, and how long it takes.

12 months
before the wedding

It’s time to start wedding dress shopping! This is the fun bit, and something you and your bridesmaids can enjoy together. If you’re a curvy size 18+, I’d avoid mainstream wedding dress shops. Many of them only stock up to size 12, so you can’t even try on a sample.

The most important thing to remember, though, is this: have fun, get giggly, and be body confident.

6 months
before the wedding

You should have found your perfect dress by now, so get ordering! Don’t leave it later than 6 months before the wedding to place your order, because the fittings can go on a lot longer than people expect.

We want you to feel as comfortable and as beautiful in your dress as possible, so the longer we have to get the fit right, the better.

10 weeks
before the wedding

The fittings commence! We usually carry out 3 fittings in the 10 weeks leading up to the wedding, and we promise that each visit will be fun. Bring your bridesmaids, or come on your tod.

I promise we’ll have a laugh.

2 weeks
before the wedding

Your final dress arrives! This is always a special moment, and one I absolutely love to be part of. After 12 months, you can finally take your beautiful gown home… and there it will wait, until the big day.

All that’s left to do is WOW your guests, and your hubby of course!

So, there you have it – 12 months of wedding dress fun! Remember, that if you don’t start looking in good time, and order your dress in advance, then you’re narrowing your chances of discovering that perfect gown.

If you’d like to get the ball rolling, please do get in touch!
